TWO
DAY ATV SAFARIS WITH OVERNIGHT CAMPING
With the extra time
available we are able to take you much further along the River Nile to
some of our favourite sites. Favourites because of the scenic beauty and/or
because of the challenges that they provide.

DAY
ONE: The safari starts from our base at Bujagali Falls, normally
at about 10.00am. Sign on and we will kit you out with a helmet, overalls,
glasses (your sunglasses OK) and gumboots if required (your closed footwear
OK). A pre-trip training session leads into the first stage, an easy ride
to Kyabirwa Falls – home of Total Gunga, the first grade 5 rapid on
the Nile. |
|
|
| |
|
|
| We
continue downstream following the Nile valley past the projected
dam site and rapids such as Overtime. The going gets tougher – ‘proper’
quadbiking stuff with streams to cross and hills to negotiate. A picnic
lunch is served somewhere interesting and we continue to Itanda Falls for
sundowners overlooking the amazing spectacle of 1.8 million litres of water
per second leaping down 5 meters between lush, bush clad islands.
After a short
stop here we continue on towards Kamuli. Depending on how much
time is available we will include some extra off-road sections and then
take a small dirt track down to the river, near to the Hairy Lemon –
a beautiful tourist site on an island in the Nile, about 40km downstream
from the Source.

|
|
|
| |
|
| We
leave our quads with an askari on the east bank and take a banana
boat/ferry across the river to where the Hairy Lemon ferry departs from
the west bank. A fully stocked bar and restaurant awaits us with several
options for accommodation. You can dive in from the white sandy beach that
forms the landing site and water volleyball court or use their hot showers
to wash off the day’s grime. If you want to camp we can carry your
tent with us. Dormitories and bandas are also available. You select which
option that you want. Meals are served in the main building. Special dietary
requirements must be specified in advance. We
will carry a fresh set of overalls for everyone with us so that you have
a change for the following day. |

 |
DAY
TWO: A full breakfast gives you a solid base for this day that
explores some of the alternative sections that we couldn’t do the
day before. To maximise the day we will carry a picnic lunch to eat along
the way – wherever that may be – we try to explore at least
one new bit each trip! We return to our base at Bujagali Falls late in the
afternoon. |
|
| |
|
|
Note that
the guide carries bottled mineral water (supplied by us) for
you. We highly recommend that you take a camera as you will be visiting
some parts of Africa that most visitors never get to see. Protective clothing;
overalls, helmet, goggles and boots are available for you. We do request
that your legs are covered, that you wear closed footwear (eg. sneakers)
and that you protect that most valuable appendage, your head, with a helmet.
